Music of the night

come meet darkness
my old friend
and dance with me
on moonbeam ends'
our whispered secrets
we'll trust with the wind
to take with it
wherever it may will
we'll chuckle in the dark
with impish delight
tempting that abhorred light
to take us where
we will not go
to see that which
we do not know
and as our skin
hums with energy strange
we'll turn inward
our knowing gaze
to discover that
a moment is lost
as it is felt
memory's tricks
make it all too stale
still
won't you come
knowing darkness
my old friend
and dwell in these moments
that promise to fade.

Wind of my soul

you listen
for that secret
that's buried in my soul
and it finds you
when there's no place to go
and though
it makes the same mistake
never once have you said no
when it crawls to you
bruised and broken
ugly and unspoken
it is you
that holds it close
you listen
so that it
need hide no more

Past and pending

the dust of yesterday still rests
on me
i sift through
to find the ghost of your laughter

it's echo
stuck in my throat
so when i laugh it's you
who laughs through me

i am that flake that refuses to leave

so i loiter the whole day through
nostalgia's greatest fool
losing myself
in a past that refuses to pend.

Shine on You Crazy Diamond

You entered this world with eyes like stars too bright.
You believed the whispers of the wind
that teased you at night:
that your light was a diamond
among the dark, dark coal that made up this life.
Those lesser than you suffered this light;
it bludgeoned them till they could stand no more upright.
And the light that which caved
left itself a legacy of despair-
a stain one might say, on pages ablank.
So now clothes that can never be shed
are recognised
by eyes that stare,
that probe, for that same crazy diamond.
So go ahead and shine,
your efforts are in vain.
I entered this world a little sly,
a little wise
With eyes that seek darkness
and shun the light.
